# ClimateCurrent > ClimateCurrent brings people and companies together to fund climate work, and lets you follow what your part sets in motion. It is run by ClimateCurrent OÜ (commercial register code 17585921). Companies, and the colleagues they invite, can take part now; joining for yourself opens in November. To start, ClimateCurrent will co-finance methane projects that can't go ahead without extra funding, with a partner it is choosing now. At the same time it is building towards its own first site, financed with a lender. Taglines: "Your spark starts a current.", "For the current climate. Despite the current climate." and "Think locally, act globally." ## Key facts - Legal entity: ClimateCurrent OÜ, commercial register code 17585921, first registered 28 August 2026. - Management board: Frank Ewout Cochius. Contact: contact@climatecurrent.eco. - Started on 24 October 2026, the International Day of Climate Action, because this is about action you can take yourself. - Companies: a company pays for a place for each of its people. They join for free, in their own name, if they want to. Suggested price €19.80 per person a month; €49.50 and €9.90 are also possible. Prices are before VAT. Pay monthly, or once for 12 months. Details: https://climatecurrent.eco/for-companies/ - Founding companies: the first 999 companies that pay at least €99 a month, before VAT, become founding companies, numbered in the order that payment arrives. - People: keep your place or sign up for the weekly newsletter. Companies can take part now. Details: https://climatecurrent.eco/how-giving-works/ - How we choose work (an aim and a method, never a guarantee): Does our money make it happen? Does it work in time? How much warming does it avoid per euro? - Tonnes are always estimated tonnes, a cautious estimate, and always tonnes your support helped make possible, never a company's or a person's own reductions. Taking part does not offset emissions and makes nothing climate-neutral. - Certificates from the work ClimateCurrent funds belong to ClimateCurrent, which may sell them; what a sale brings in goes back into methane work. Companies receive the tonnes they help make possible, not certificates. - Follow the projects ClimateCurrent co-finances and its first site. ClimateCurrent will publish what the work achieves, with its method and sources. Scientific figures on the site come from named public sources (IPCC, UNEP, IEA, US EPA, European Commission) and describe the world, not ClimateCurrent results. - Focus on methane: about 80 times the warming effect of CO₂ over 20 years, mass for mass, and roughly a decade in the atmosphere, so cuts slow warming within years. - Thesis: people did not stop caring; they stopped believing their part adds up to anything. ClimateCurrent exists to break that cycle. ## How it works 1. Start with your company. Companies can take part now. Your company pays for a place for each of your people. Even if it's just you, your company can start a current. 2. Your people decide. Each of them decides whether to join, in their own name, and what they share. Joining for yourself opens in November. 3. The money goes to work. To start, we'll co-finance methane projects that can't go ahead without extra funding. At the same time we're building towards our own first site. 4. Follow every step. The projects we co-finance, the site we choose, who helps finance it, and what it does once it runs. The tonnes you see are a cautious estimate of what your support helped make possible. 5. Share your own link. Introduce the people around you with your own link. Whether they take part is their decision alone. ## Pages - [Home](https://climatecurrent.eco/): what ClimateCurrent is, where the money goes, how a current forms, why methane, and the newsletter. The 20-year warming clock](https://climatecurrent.eco/journal/why-methane-now/): Methane has about 80 times the warming effect of CO₂ over 20 years, mass for mass, and lasts roughly a decade. That short clock makes cutting it urgent now. Updated 2026-10-23. - [Is methane reduction cheap? What “no net cost” means](https://climatecurrent.eco/journal/is-methane-reduction-cheap/): Methane reduction is sometimes cheap. The IEA finds about 30% of fossil fuel methane avoidable at no net cost, yet a sector estimate is no price per tonne.
