Our story

The distance problem.
Why this exists.

ClimateCurrent brings people and companies together to fund climate work, and lets you follow what your part sets in motion. It exists to close one gap: the distance between caring about the climate and seeing what your part adds up to.

The short version

“A drop disappears. A spark catches. The whole map lights up.”

01

The yoghurt pot moment

You rinse the pot. You check the little triangle on the bottom. Then the evening news reports another record year, and the pot starts to feel like a rounding error.

Repeat that a few hundred times and most people quietly stop. They still care. Nothing ever reported back, so the caring went quiet.

02

Feedback went missing

Climate action asks for trust and almost never sends a receipt. You recycle, donate, vote and switch tariffs, and nothing tells you whether any of it connected to anything.

Effort without a signal turns into faith. Faith has a short shelf life, and the headlines arrive daily.

03

So we are building the signal

To start, we'll co-finance methane projects that can't go ahead without extra funding. At the same time we're building towards our own first site: steady monthly support lets us finance a whole site at once with a lender, instead of saving for years.

One rule sits above the rest. We look for work that wouldn't happen without us.

You'll follow every step: the projects we co-finance, the site we choose, who helps finance it, and what it does once it runs. Your own light sits on one shared map, if you choose to show it.

04

What we refuse to sell

A clean conscience is off the menu. Taking part makes nobody carbon-neutral, and the tonnes you see are a cautious estimate of what your support helped make possible, never your own reductions. When a reported figure falls short, we correct it.

We would sooner lose a sale than print a claim we cannot defend.

05

You were right to doubt

People care more than they think others do. In a 2024 survey of about 130,000 people in 125 countries, 69% said they would give 1% of their income every month to fight climate change, and respondents underestimated how many others would by 26 percentage points.

So the loneliness is a measurement error. ClimateCurrent exists to make the rest of the room visible. Questions and objections go to contact@climatecurrent.eco.

More than they think. In a 2024 study across 125 countries, 69% of people said they would give 1% of their income every month to fight climate change, and people underestimated how many others would by 26 percentage points. The loop nobody voted for

Are you saying climate initiatives have failed?

No. Plenty of climate work delivers. The problem we target is participation: results that feel distant, claims nobody can check and no obvious place for one person to contribute.

What does human agency mean here?

Being able to understand the offer, decide freely whether to take part and ask what your participation achieved. Open the glossary
